OUR HISTORY AND HOW WE ARE MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE.

Le Sueur County Developmental Services (LCDS) was founded in 1966 to help people with disabilities develop the fine-motor and communication skills needed in finding and maintaining employment.

Today, we continue that mission by offering  transportation, job coaching services, and meaningful work opportunities for the individuals we currently serve in order for them to increase their independence, as well as broaden their relationships with friends
and family.

We are an independent non-profit 501(c)(3), currently serving 63 individuals with developmental disabilities in the southern Minnesota Lakes Region.

"On October 4, 1966, the center went into operation.  Located in Trinity Lutheran Church, in Waterville, Minnesota, it serves children three mornings each week until May 26, 1967.  A program of crafts, music, physical education, social and self help skills were offered, with emphasis on meeting the individual needs of each child.  Language activities, field trips and social activities helped to widen horizons.  Seven children and their families were served by the center when we opened."
